How the collection works

The card system

Every card in Katha Kosh carries a fragment of a story. The system below is how those fragments are organised, from the everyday moments of a narrative to the timeless truths that outlive civilisations. The Ramayana is the first set: 94 cards. The system works across every universe that follows.

Rarity tiers · Story cards only

Three tiers apply only to the 56 Story cards. Every Emotion, Place, and Artifact card carries equal weight.

Katha
कथा Story
The everyday moments. Human choices, quiet courage, the texture of ordinary lives woven into myth. These are the cards that build the world around the heroes.
Ramayana example: A citizen of Ayodhya watches Rama leave. A charioteer's long ride home. The forest dwellers who fed Rama and Sita.
Common
Mahagatha
महागाथा Great Saga
Divine conflicts and legendary acts. The confrontations that shook the heavens and split the ocean. These cards are the epic at its most alive.
Ramayana example: Sita's Swayamvar. Lanka burns. Ram Setu, built stone by stone.
Legendary
Amar Katha
अमर कथा Immortal Tale
Timeless truths. Stories that outlive empires, cross oceans, and live in every generation's bones. To hold one is to hold something that will never stop being true.
Ramayana example: Hanuman's Leap. The Fall of Ravana. Sita's final choice.
Eternal

"Three tiers mark how close a card sits to the heart of the story. This isn't a ranking of what's sacred. It's a reflection of how memory itself works. Some moments are everyday. Some change everything."

Echoes of Vishnu sits outside this ladder entirely, a cross-universe class of its own, not a rarity tier. See below.

Echoes of Vishnu · विष्णु के अवतार

10 cards · Cross-universe class, outside the rarity ladder · Appears across multiple Katha Kosh universes

Vishnu takes form when the world needs him most. Ten avatars across time and story. Rama is one. Krishna is another. The thread between them runs deeper than any single epic.

Echoes of Vishnu cards carry that thread. They appear in the Ramayana set and will appear again in future sets. A card pulled from one universe connects to a card pulled from another. What that connection means is yours to discover. Illustration for this class leans silhouette-based, with glowing eyes and gold rim light against a mandala backdrop. Like the rest of the set, 100% hand-illustrated, no AI used.
